Join our 3-day Agadir birdwatching tour, designed for bird enthusiasts and wildlife photographers. Discover Morocco’s top birding hotspots, from coastal estuaries to lush mountain valleys. Spot iconic species like the Northern Bald Ibis, Marbled Duck, Audouin’s Gull, Bonelli’s Eagle, and Tristram’s Warbler while enjoying breathtaking landscapes.
Day 1: Birdwatching in Agadir – Cap Rhir & Tamri Estuary
The first day of our birdwatching adventure begins with a scenic drive along Morocco’s Atlantic coast towards Cap Rhir. This stunning coastal area is a haven for seabirds, where you can observe Lesser Black-backed Gulls, Yellow-legged Gulls, and other migratory species gliding over the waves. The rocky shoreline provides a perfect backdrop for spotting marine birdlife as they forage and soar.
Continuing north, we reach the Tamri Estuary, one of the last strongholds of the critically endangered Northern Bald Ibis. This pristine wetland ecosystem also attracts Greater Flamingos, Eurasian Spoonbills, and various wading birds, making it a must-visit destination for bird photographers and nature enthusiasts. As the sun sets, we return to Agadir for a traditional Moroccan dinner and a relaxing overnight stay.
Day 2: Oued Massa & Oued Souss Birding Adventure
On the second day, we head south towards Oued Massa, located within Souss-Massa National Park, a biodiversity hotspot known for its diverse habitats and birdlife. This region offers excellent opportunities to see Marbled Ducks, Glossy Ibis, Eurasian Spoonbills, and Black-winged Stilts thriving in the rich wetland environment. The park’s combination of estuaries, dunes, and scrublands creates the perfect setting for spotting a variety of resident and migratory species.
In the afternoon, we explore the Oued Souss Estuary, where the mudflats and saltpans attract an array of shorebirds, including Greater Flamingos, waders, gulls, and terns. The estuary’s unique landscape provides a serene environment to observe bird behavior and migration patterns. After a fulfilling day of birding, we return to Agadir for another night of comfort and local cuisine.
Day 3: High Atlas & Paradise Valley Birdwatching
On the final day, we venture into the breathtaking landscapes of the High Atlas Mountains, heading towards Paradise Valley and Imouzzer. This region is a striking contrast to the coastal wetlands, with dramatic cliffs, lush palm groves, and river valleys that serve as habitats for a variety of mountain species. Here, birdwatchers can look out for Bonelli’s Eagle, Crag Martin, Blue Rock Thrush, Tristram’s Warbler, Barbary Partridge, Black Wheatear, Black Redstart, and Little Swift.
The rugged cliffs and hidden gorges provide excellent vantage points for spotting birds of prey soaring overhead. The peaceful surroundings and scenic views make this an unforgettable end to the tour. In the evening, we return to Agadir, concluding an incredible birdwatching experience in Morocco.
